School Council

Welcome to our School Council!

Our School Council is made up of two pupils from each class, elected at the beginning of the year. Each representative was chosen due to their commitment to listening to all voices in the school and for striving to make a difference in our school community. The school council oversee all our school values and are considered excellent role models of these already.

We have elected a head boy and girl who will also be part of the school council.

Throughout the year, they will attend School Council meetings where a range of matters are discussed. The School Council are all striving towards the same common goal, which is to ensure the children of Ab Kettleby are proud of their environment, and are kind, self-regulated and respectful individuals, so that they leave Ab Kettleby with the skills to become life-long learners.

Our head boy and girl are:
Head Boy – Tom
Head Girl - Sophie

Our school council representatives are:
Bumble Bees – Macie and Harriet
Honey Bees – Alfie and Adaline
The Hive – Nat and Daisy

Our first meeting began by introducing ourselves and talking about why it was important for us to be a representative of the school. We were all feeling honoured that, through the power of democracy, each member had been voted for fairly to be in our School Council this academic year. With this, we discussed the importance of ‘our voice’. We want to begin the year as we mean to go on, by simply listening to those around us. How can we improve our school without the voices of those inside? So, we introduce our focus for this half term – “We All Have a Voice”. The team are creating a ‘suggestions box’ to be placed in school where pupils can raise issues that they would like the School Council to discuss.

We also have a few events coming up that we are organising and that is the Jeans for Genes day on Friday 20th September where our school are raising awareness of the daily challenges faced by those living with a genetic condition whilst raising money.   We also have a bake sale coming up on Friday 27th September to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. We are hoping to raise as much money as we can to help those in need, from our Small but Mighty school.
